Petal is built around a simple idea: your photos are yours. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to your data when you use Petal.
Petal reviews your camera roll entirely on-device, using Apple's Photos framework. We do not upload, transmit, back up, or otherwise send your photos, videos, or their metadata (like locations or timestamps) to Petal's servers or to any third party, because Petal does not operate any server that photos pass through. There is nothing for us to see, because it never leaves your phone.
Petal's free trial and paid subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We never see or store your payment details. Apple processes all billing directly. Subscription management (viewing, changing, or cancelling) happens in your device's Settings app, under your Apple ID, exactly like any other App Store subscription. Refunds are also handled by Apple, per their own policies.
The Petal app itself uses no analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. We don't know how many photos you've reviewed, what you kept or released, how often you open the app, or anything else about your usage. Nothing about your activity inside the app is collected or transmitted anywhere.
On this website, the memory test at getpetalapp.com/quiz uses Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to count page views and see how many people finish the test. Plausible sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and does not track you across other sites. No other page on this website uses analytics of any kind.
If you sign up for updates on this website, your email address is stored solely so we can send you Petal news: new features, tips, and occasional updates. We never sell, rent, or share your email address with any third party for marketing purposes. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also email us directly to be removed at any time.
Petal is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them.
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. Continued use of Petal after a change means you accept the updated policy.
